New Finn Mandocello “Damian”
$2,250.00In stock
Meet “Damian”, the newest handmade mandolin-family instrument from Finn. A carved-top, tap-tuned mandocello made with lumber from a nearly hundred year-old piano. The top is from the space soundboard and the back, sides, and neck are from the piano’s frame. Reclaimed wood is a wonderful way to get truly “seasoned” lumber. Each Finn is unique. That’s why they have names, not serial numbers, because they are not serially-produced. With reclaimed wood you’ll always have small blemishes but it’s worth it for the complex tone old wood gives. 1 1/2” nut width, 24” scale length, custom-made tailpiece and bridge. The fingerboard, head plate, and tailpiece are made of the same wood. Finn – of course – does not make cases but a “D”-size gig bag or hard case work provided the case has an arched top. Huge, sonorous sound from this hand-crafted instrument, made right here in Minnesota.
