1992 Gibson Bob Marley Les Paul Replica
$12,500.00In stock
First, this is not one of the official Gibson Custom Shop Marley guitars. This is a 1992 Gibson Les Paul Special that’s been lovingly modified to exactly replicate Bob Marley’s guitar.
Jamaica is an island and the salt air is not kind. Being near an ocean will eat paint, wood and even iron. Bob’s actual guitar was modified over his career as the years of stage wear and salt air affected the guitar. This is how his guitar looked at the end of his career. We love Bob Marley!
So, this guitar…the original finish was stripped and real lacquer applied. The headstock binding was added. The dot inlays removed and blocks installed. The neck binding was added and the fretboard refretted (you’re welcome). The metal pickguard was custom cut and the “all seeing eye” switch plate added. Like the original Marley guitar it has an aged gold Nashville bridge and aged nickel tailpiece. It also has a brass nut and period correct mini Schaller tuners with the same anchor screw placement. As you can see the finish wear and wear marks are identical to Bob’s original guitar. The wear on the back includes the little rubber mustache from his guitar cord. Has an identical jack plate too. The details on this are amazing!
The pickups are the best P-90’s in the world, Throbak ’52-54 style. These have a slightly lower output with 7.6K for the bridge and 7.3K for the neck pickup. They are beautifully articulate, real ear candy. We could think of nothing better. There is even a vintage early 70’s strap included. Comes with a brown Gibson hard shell case. All for about half of the limited edition guitars from Gibson.
