1980 Gibson L6S
$3,250.00In stock
Maple neck and body in…Silverburst! Definitely not something you’ll see every day. This is the set-neck version, unbound rosewood fingerboard with pearl dots, volute with “Made in USA” marking, Silverburst finish applied on basically every surface, not just the top (a late ’70s/early ’80s Gibson specialty), 3-ply black pickguard, 2 Bill Lawrence-designed Gibson “Super Humbucker” pickups, 6-way rotary pickup/tone selector, master volume, separate midrange and treble roll-off controls, “harmonica” bridge, and stoptail. Speaking of Bill Lawrence, this model was the first result of his collaboration with Gibson, and had quite a number of notable users, including Santana, Paul Stanley and Devo – and if that’s not a wide stylistic variety, we don’t know what is. This one is very clean, a nice weight at 8.1 pounds, plays and sounds great, and comes in its original hard case. Very late production (these were officially dropped from the catalog in 1979), made in Nashville, Tennessee, USA.
