Martin’s new D-sized Road Series (made in Mexico) guitar. This one being the first to feature their torrefied solid spruce top, in the past used only in their Modern Deluxe and Authentic series guitars. Torrefaction, we’ll remind you, entails baking the wood in a kiln for over a day, and in short, removes excess oils and moisture resulting in a top that’s essentially been aged for decades. The DE Retro Plus features mahogany back and sides, and said torrefied spruce top. The 14-Fret neck joint makes this comparable in essence to the D-18, all for under $2,000. Standard 25.4” Martin scale, and 1 3/4” nut width. This is an excellent-feeling-and-sounding guitar, and the E1 electronics allow you to play it out right away. Comes with gig bag.
