Late 1970s Vox AC30

Made by Dallas Industries, whose stewardship of Vox was rather more conscientious than one might expect, this is the partial-PCB solid state-rectified version that was a vast improvement on the early ‘70s Birch-Stolec AC30s, with thick, durable boards and chassis-mounted tubes, and made in an era when JMI founder Tom Jennings worked with the company in an advisory capacity. This one is in quite nice condition, and is all-original save for later 1994-dated British-made Celestion Vintage 30 loudspeakers and some missing heat vent grilles on the top. Freshly-serviced, and really sounds fantastic. Onboard effects include vibrato and tremolo, and in a big upgrade from early JMI-era AC30s, the speed is continuously variable and not limited to three settings. Otherwise, you know the AC30 drill – six inputs, three channels including the bracing “brilliant” channel, an outrageously-strong 30 watts from a quartet of cathode-biased EL84s, and all the chime, crunch, and articulation one could want. Made in Shoenessbury, Essex, UK, one of the last AC30s made before Dallas sold the name to Rose-Morris. Local pickup only.
