1978 Gibson Les Paul Custom

In stock

In Tobacco Sunburst, a slightly unusual color for the Custom, amounting to about only 5% or so of ’70s Les Paul Customs. So, all the peak late ’70s Norlin features including volute, “Made in USA” stamp, and 3-piece maple neck, but this was the year they went away from the “sandwich” or “pancake” body, so nice uninterrupted Honduran mahogany from the maple top on down, bound front and back, and not bad weight-wise for a Les Paul Custom at 10.4 pounds. Bound ebony fingerboard with pearl blocks of course, 1 & 11/16″ nut width with some depth, split-diamond peghead inlay, a pair of great-sounding “patent stamp” humbuckers, gold hardware including pickup covers, Tune-o-matic, stoptail, and keystone-button Grovers, a fair amount of sexy road wear, lovely yellowing to the finish all over, plays and sounds great. Comes in well-fitting non-original hard case, appears to be Ibanez in origin. Made in Nashville, Tennessee, USA.
