Black, condition? Yikes. Let’s refer to the 1963 Guild catalog description of the earlier S-100 Polara. “For the flashy technician, hand sculpted for comfort, blending easily with other instruments.” This model, the Standard, was introduced in 1970 with a mahogany body and neck, bound rosewood fretboard, block inlays, pearl logo and Chesterfield peghead inlay.Thankfully, this one has been refretted (you’re welcome). Guild humbucking pickups are famously underwound comapared to the Gibson humbuckers of the era. Guild added the phase switch to this model in mid ’72 and this guitar has no switch. The neck is a nice medium profile and an 1 11/16” nut width and fresh frets.

These were famously played by Kim Thayll of Soundgarden, Ian Hunter of Mott the Hoople and Kevin Bowe with Paul Westerberg.

Ok, ok, we can’t fool you this is not mint. But it has the original pickups and no breaks. It does have newer tuners and bridge and an added Bigsby. Nice and light at 7.1 pounds. It’s very beat, very well played and it kills. Comes with the original hard case that is in awful condition. A tonefull road dog.
