1965 Vox Cambridge Reverb
$1,950.00In stock
1×10” combo, 17 watts, Ex+++. Extra-clean and original with original footswitch and papers. This is the first version of this amp called curiously the “V-3” and the only tube iteration of the Cambridge Reverb. Essentially a Vox AC15 (with a variant on the “top boost” preamp circuitry) with reverb and tremolo but made by Thomas Organ in Sepulveda, California, USA, and soon replaced in 1966 by a solid-state version. Silver control panel, original 1965 transformers and the gold-frame Vox Bulldog speaker (made by Oxford under license from Celestion.) The amp has the original cast metal two-button footswitch (it weighs a ton so it stays where you put it.) The tone is iconic Vox class A sizzle from two EL-84 power tubes. Every screw is original, as mentioned very clean. The mains cable has been replaced with the modern three-prong style, and there is paperwork from a servicing in 2015. A very cool original fold-out Vox catalog is included that claims Vox “gear” (they were using that term before it became ubiquitous) is used by “all the top BEAT GROUPS!” A rare amp in rare condition. With newer cover.
