1962 Gibson GA-8T Discoverer Tremolo

With rare original 12” Jensen alnico speaker. Fully serviced. Very clean and all-original including the factory wooden footswitch. This era from mid-1962 to early 1964 had 12” speakers and a beefy 8 watts (take that, Fender Princeton!) These are feather-light at 19 pounds, a single 6BM8 power tube (similar to an EL84) and a 5Y3 rectifier. In many ways the perfect at-home/studio amp, with a tube-driven tremolo that is very rich-sounding. These are like tweed Fenders offering a great crunch when pushed and a warm tube tone at lower volumes. The Gibson badge is fully intact, and the vinyl covering looks good even in the living room. We serviced the amp so you save $50 (new rectifier, all solder joints checked, cleaned, tested, and ready.) These still seem undervalued in the vintage world. Besides, don’t you need a mate for your 1962 Gibson guitar?
