1959 Gibson ES-225TD
Sunburst, Gibsons first thin line model was the ES-225T or double pickup 225TD. The factory offered this with the fancy pearl inlaid logo and a deluxe bound neck along with the individual Kluson tuners and not the cheaper three on a side tuners.
They were made from 1956-1959. 1959 is the only year for the bigger frets. 1959 necks tend to be a bit smaller Than the huge ’58 necks.
This one is all stock with the original pickups, strap buttons and lacquered switch tip. The P-90 pickups are crisp, clean and delicious to rip snorting. Condition is quite clean with finish checking everywhere but no buckle rash or heavy wear. It’s nicely yellowed, a really cool vintage golden era Gibson. We will point out there are new improved bridges for these that you can find online. But the original bridge on this guitar is in fine fettle. Great guitar to sit on the couch with an enjoy through an amp.
The price is lower because the case is a plastic utility case, It’s a good hard shell case but it will fit in a new 335 case if you want something a bit nicer. But then again, it’s nice to have stealth case like this so no one tell you’re carrying an old classic.
