1958 Martin D-28
$11,500.00Brazilian rosewood, VG+. Fresh out of the shop for a neck reset, a new bridge, and some crack repairs. This was the stage guitar for a nationally-know singer-songwriter (and virtuoso guitarist) and it sounds fantastic as many well-played guitars do. Has “patent pending” Grover tuners and a beautifully-grained bookmatched Brazilian rosewood back sides, and a very black ebony fingerboard. The 68 year-old Sitka top has many repaired cracks (nine by our count) yet no amount of torrefaction can duplicate this type of tone. Complex and able to provide deep bass as well as long sustain and and sweet high end. The Willie’s shop was instructed to do whatever it took to make this ready again for playing on stage (including your home “stage”.) There was a filled strap button hole and a repaired heel crack at the small end of the heel. Otherwise typical late ‘50s Martin features – the neck has a slight V that diminishes as you go up towards the body. No finish checking on neck, feels great. Looks like original frets yet no need to refret (again, plays great.) Tall saddle, factory spec action. No pickup. Comes with its original case and lots of great mojo.
