1937 Oahu 66K Hawaiian

$1,200.00

Mahogany body, square neck. A deluxe model with cool checkerboard binding. The fingerboard looks like pearwood. Pearwood? Yes. The bridge is Brazilian Rosewood. The tuners are also original.

These large 66K’s are top of the line and immensely loud and just rumble in your lap. This Oahu compares favorably to the more famous Weissenborn. You can your slide can get lost in the overtones. This is clean except for a pro repaired seam crack on back. Plus this has the optional deluxe case that was expensive back in the day. It’s strung with 12 gauge flatops. This Oahu was not cheap and listed for $49 in 1937 when a gallon of milk was 10 cents and rent was $30 a month. That’s why we see so few of these. It’s a great Hawaiian with a cool vintage case.
