Western Sunset, special ordered with highly figured Koa back and sides, Adirondack Top, Abalone. An heirloom quality guitar. The CJ (Collings Jumbo) is a nod to the shape and bracing of Gibson’s famous banner head J-45 from 1942 when Gibson needed to compete with Martin’s dreadnaught. These Collings are so artfully braced and scalloped that any type of wood used would likely sound great. But if you spend one minute playing this stunning Koa creation then go home, the warm defined bass response will haunt your dreams. Ask me how I know. We feel Koa as a tone wood fits in a slot between Mahogany and Rosewood. A bit punchier than Mahogany yet better note separation than Rosewood. Adirondack adds a more woody tone to your playing. Plus this is heartbreakingly beautiful, custom-made for a famous chef. This was featured in a Collings ad. Now offered to you with an awesome bulletproof Calton hard case. Features include: 41 style abalone top purfling, bound ebony fingerboard sans inlays. 1 3/4” nut width, C-shaped neck profile, abalone rosette and nickel Waverly tuners.
