Honduran ahogany-bodied style O 14-fret flattop, upgrade stunning Adirondack spruce top, unbound ebony fingerboard, Honduran mahogany neck with “Vintage Now” neck profile, ebony peghead veneer, nickel Waverly tuners, prewar scalloped x-braces, optional 1 & 3/4” nut width, 24 & 7/8” scale length, 14”-26” compound radius, 2 & 5/16” spacing on the ebony belly bridge. So those are the specifications. How does it play and sound? Well, needless to say, being a Collings and at the absolute pinnacle of build quality and selection of premium materials, it plays superbly and the sound, with the scalloped x-braces and adirondack top, is incredibly articulate yet very warm. Certainly clear trebles and musical mids, but more projection and bass response than is typical even on a fine mahogany small-bodied acoustic. Just a splendid guitar all around.
