2010s Applegate SJ-L$5,500.00
What an instrument! We can assume the “L” is for long, as it is a 26.375″ scale length. Fingerstyle players rejoice! Brian Applegate makes brilliant guitars and we couldn’t be prouder, as he is from Minnesota.
This guitar has a European spruce top and Ziricote rosewood back and sides. Ziricote is a Central American tonewood known for its beauty and sound. It looks a bit like Brazilian with its lovely deep black coffee-colored lines. It also provides a deep bass response like its South American cousin but its grain patterns are more complex. Surface checking is common but the wood remains stable after drying and is strikingly attractive.
So, some more features and specs: 15.25″ wide at the lower bout, 1.75″ nut width, 5.625″ depth at the tail block, 5-piece neck, elaborate multi-aperture sound port, Gotoh 510 tuners, and gold “EVO” frets. This guitar has a Florentine cutaway, pearl-patterned rosette, headstock binding, and pickup installed. An $8,000 build, plays effortlessly and sounds amazing. Comes in its original Cedar Creek hard case.
