1996 Gibson J-200
$2,795.00Out of stock
Natural, VG+. In 1937 the ads for the Gibsons now legendary J-200 called it the King of the Flat tops. It was originally called the Super Jumbo 200. Funny, really because Gibson had been making flat top guitars for about 10 years and Martin for 100.
This one has an exceptionally flamed maple body and a plain maple neck. A luthier would tell you that’s good because sometimes flamed necks are less stable.
King of the flat tops? Why? Trim (or bling) and lots of multi-layerd binding, abalone inlay, a patented etched and painted pickguard and a mustache bridge with pearl blocks. Rather royal. Elvis used a J-200 that made him the King. If you buy this it’ll help you too.
Condition: shows finish checking on the spruce top, changed tuners to similar gold Klusons. Has an added pickup with sound hole volume control. Also has an added strap button thoughtfully in gold and one repaired top crack. Having said that it shows pretty clean. The tone is huge, just huge, thunderously huge. Comes with the original hard case.
