1994 Paul Reed Smith Custom 24

In stock

Very nice, a ’94 Custom 24 in Vintage Sunburst, just a hair over 8 pounds, solid Honduran mahogany body and neck, last full year of short heel, unbound Indian rosewood fingerboard with the iconic PRS birds, “wide-fat” profile, Vintage Bass/HFS pickups, master volume and tone, the third iteration 5-way rotary switch used from 1991 to 1994, “wing and collar” locking tuners, gold hardware. This one came to us with ebonized tuner buttons, a custom truss rod cover, and strap locks but the factory hardware was in the (original) PRS hard case with Cheney latches and key, and has been re-mounted making this Custom 24 100% original. Overall clean but there is some playing wear here and there, always a sexy touch on an old PRS, and the great tones and extremely smooth action help explain why this one got used a lot. One interesting thing – in the bridge pickup cavity where the finish name is hand-written on Paul Reed Smith guitars of this period, it’s marked “poss. 10”, indicating that the top was a candidate for “10 top” status until the final sanding, when it was presumably “downgraded” to being merely a tip-top high-quality and very striking AAAAA flame maple. Just a great guitar overall. Comes with original trem arm, made in Stevensville, Maryland, USA.
