1975 Ibanez 2387CT Rocket Roll Sr. “Bob Mould #3”

“Lawsuit” pre-serial number Flying V copy in its original hard case, formerly owned by Bob Mould, who famously used these pretty exclusively with Hüsker Dü. He had three of them, and this is allegedly the one he played at Hüsker Dü’s final show. The guitar is accompanied by a letter of provenance by the current owner showing the chain of ownership, as well as an empty rack case from Hüsker Dü bassist Greg Norton’s bass rig with the band’s iconic emblem stenciled on it. This one is reasonably clean and mostly original although the strap button has been moved, and the original output (on the inside surface of the “V”) has been removed and one of the pots and knobs has been replaced with a more-conveniently-placed jack. Original “Star” tuners and, interestingly, a factory “dart” or “stinger” on the back of the headstock, like seen on some vintage natural-finish Gibson archtops. No breaks, highly-figured maple neck, kind of a great guitar in its own right, as these early Ibanez copies of ‘50s and ‘60s Gibson electrics were very well-made, great-playing and great-sounding instruments, and the direct connection to one of the most storied and influential bands to ever come out of the Twin Cities makes this one very special.
