1968 Martin D-28S

Brazilian rosewood! A nice, clean, honest slotted-head Brazilian Martin. With a nice wide 1 & 7/8″ nut and a 12th fret neck joint, this guitar is rather rare. The “S” stood for “special order” at this time rather than “slotted headstock”. The back and sides are quartersawn and bookmatched Brazilian rosewood. There was a special reserve for Brazilian on these larger-bodied guitars. The top is bookmatched Sitka spruce with wide grain at the sides and some tight bearclaw figure in the center. Dark ebony board with graduated dots. There is a repaired center-seam crack and the often-seen replaced pickguard but no b-string crack. It’s had a neck set and plays great. Original tuners, too, and has the factory maple bridge plate. It is well-balanced – as the fingerpicker in you will appreciate – and quite clean with lightly-aged lacquer that makes it kinda glow. Comes with original green-lined hard case in clean condition. Hard to find.
