1966 Gibson ES-335TD

Out of stock

Sunburst, EX++. A very clean example bought from the original owner. About 4 years ago a very nice gentleman called us saying he had a ’66 ES-335. He asked: “Should I sell now or wait?” We advised waiting. We were right, the vintage market moved in his direction. He drove 7 hours to bring it in. The guitar was strung with flatwound .12s (Gibson strings, of course). It never saw bars but was played non-professionally. It’s very, very clean. Brazilian fretboard, of course, a nice 2-tone brown “tobacco finish” (as it was called in the day). All stock with no changes, original pickguard, brakes, nickel Klusons and even the switchtip. Frets look almost new – thanks, flatwounds! Has the slimmer 1 & 9/16” nut but grows into hand-filling width as you go up the neck. The back has some flame and there’s a bit of curly-cord marking on the back. There are a few dings on the back of the neck and some very light checking and and light scratches. No buckle rash. Even has the original strap buttons. Comes in the Gibson soft case (original to the guitar). The original “patent sticker” pickups sound great with those crisp upper mids and warm bass. A great example.
