Refinished. With original pickups and electronics. The ES-295 was conceived in 1952 when Gibson came up with a new color that had metal flake for the newfangled solidbody with the Les Paul name. The ES-295 had Les Paul’s new bridge, gold hardware, and the striking gold finish. Scotty Moore’s Western Swing licks were done on an ES-295 when he recorded “That’s All Right” and “I’m Left, You’re Right, She’s Gone and you’ll hear the unique tone when you listen to those classic early Elvis records. This model was also seen in the hands of a number of other notable guitar heroes, from Danny Gatton to Geordie of the great UK postpunk band Killing Joke. These early P-90s are now called “low-winds” (our friends at ThroBak make incredible copies of these great-sounding early ‘50s P-90s.) This guitar looks to have all-original parts. It was refinished long ago and has a bit of a green tint. Willie is kind of a fan of green so he flipped. Has original knobs, tuners (new buttons), pots, pickups, and you have to love the split-parallelogram inlays on the Brazilian rosewood fingerboard. We think the iconic floral pickguard is original, as well. It even comes in its factory brown hard case. Incredibly cool, not often seen, and a great guitar in its own right. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA.
