1951 Gibson L-7C

In stock

EX-, sunburst top, with “McCarty guard”. These hand-carved 17″ archtops were the instruments of guitar professionals in the day. The solid spruce tops were carved from select and aged lumber. This one has great projection and a wonderful growl. Carved figured maple back and sides , and a 3-piece flamed maple neck with a great feel, walnut finish on the back and sides.
The neck is big, a perfectly round without the “V” profile of earlier Gibsons. The ’50-’54 is one of our favorite neck shapes. Brazilian fretboard with split-parallelogram inlays, pearl logo on bound headstock. The electronics are the legendary “McCarty” pickup – we will leave it to you look up reviews or listen to period Frank Sinatra records.
No cracks but lots of play wear (note the strap locks), with finish checking, a few dings, but nothing major. It has the tone of a well-loved guitar. Original brown hard case.
