1946 Gibson J-45 Script Logo
$9,700.00In stock
Sunburst, these have always been in high demand for that Old Wood tone of huge thunder like bass and clear punchy mids with clear sustaining treble. A huge part of American History, Gibson has made the J-45 since 1942 and has never stopped.
This one has a well done oversprayed back and several repaired back cracks. We offered this to you in 2014 and are happy to see it again. The seller stated he tried three of them that day and this one was the best sounding. Has an Adirondack Spruce top, mahogany back, sides and neck. Also has a Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard and bridge. The nut width is 1.81”, the neck depth is .094” at the first fret. It has been refretted and the frets are in good shape with no signs of wear. The sides are also oversprayed but not obviously so. Shows normal nicks and scratches but no top cracks or abuse. Comes with a newer Gibson Calton case that is overbuilt for durability with five latches with bumper guards and big rubber feet.
Any time you see an old Gibson with a small pickguard and bridge you go…wow. But then you see the script logo and you drool…a little. Note the original tuners and adjustable truss rod. The tuner buttons look original and are shrinking (an easy fix). A really cool example with well-repaired cracks on the back make this kind of an opportunity.Consigned.
