1939 Gibson HG-00

In stock

These are the same as a Gibson L-00 but come with factory high high nut and high straight saddle. However, these were fretted and had a standard Spanish neck, not a fretless square neck. We saved the original saddle and nut but carved a new one for regular play…and it has the sweetest voice, easy to understand why Elvis Costello and Marc Ribot played them. Adirondack top aged the old-fashioned way over 81 years, x-bracing, with big v-profile neck and tapered headstock. Aged Honduran mahogany back, sides, and neck (again, 81 years of the wonderful work time does on a well-maintained flattop). Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and original Brazilian skinny bridge as well. No cracks anywhere but has an added jack hole on the side. Fully shop-checked (no issues). The original soft case was held together with tape. We found a nice mid-’60s Gibson hard case that fits well. Big neck, big sound, a great guitar, one strum and you’ll want this.
