1840 Martin Style 2

Ex++. It’s really hard to grade a 170 year-old guitar when there are no others to compare it with. C.F. Martin moved his New York shop to Cherry Hill (the first hill north of the rise on which Nazareth, Pennsylvania was built), turning out about one guitar a week. This guitar is in amazing condition and reflects interesting aspects of Martin’s earliest guitars. The shape of the ivory tuners and intricate tuning mechanisms, headstock design, intriguing bridge design, and the “resting pin” on the back. The center brace is fabric – the same material used in its original “coffin” case. Historically significant.
