Acoustic Flat Top1922 Stella Steel String

1922 Stella Steel String
Rare and fancy (not made by Harmony). All solid wood with the flamiest maple back and sides we’ve seen in many years. 24 3/4" scale with a big mahogany quarter sawn V shape neck with ebony fretboard and etched pearl inlays that reflect the art decco design that was popular in the 20’s. Ebony bridge with new bone saddle. The guitar measures 4 1/8" deep, 13 1/2" wide lower bout, 38" long, 12 fret neck joint. 1 3/4" wide at nut.

This is a jewel of a guitar in remarkable crack free condition. We reset the neck and repaired the original bridge plate saving you $800 in repairs. It is set up and sounds beautiful. Comes with the original case and a hard case. Historically important as this is the same factory that made the Leadbelly 12 string. These guitars were used by Leo Kottke, Robert Johnson, Blind Willie McTell, Doc Watson, Kurt Cobain, Willie Nelson and of course Leadbelly. (aka Huddie William Ledbetter).

This is a most remarkable example of American artistry and craftsmanship. Stella was made by the Oscar Schmidt Company who went under in 1939. They sold trademarks to Harmony of Chicago in ’39. This is pre Harmony.
