Natural, 24.9" scale length, pro top only refin, one of only 129 made and first year of the Martin logo on the front of the headstock. This one has the factory original logo on the front and back. Adirondack spruce top with herringbone top trim with herringbone touch up, quarter sawn Brazilian rosewood back and sides with zippered back stripe, Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with diamond and square inlays, 1 3/4 at nut, refret, pro neck reset, new bone saddle, one repaired top crack on upper bout and repaired pickguard crack. All the finest pro work, top crack is nearly undetectable. Top has a small patch or spruce replaced near the fingerboard. Once had elevated pickguard installed now has two tiny filled holes at the waist. Also strap button hole on diamond volute now filled in with touch up and filled holes from an old trapeze tailpiece. Many years ago a repair person who knew their limits put a trapeze bridge on and strung it up like an archtop. Although it left three holes it retained the original bridge and bridge plate. That "farmer jones" repair was the best thing that happened to this guitar. You can also see nicks and dings on the top that are part of its 75 year history. Does have original pickguard, bridge and bridge plate and open back Grover tuners. Has the classic 30’s chunky neck profile and top bracing. This one sounds and plays just right, huge cannon like tone that you can only get from a 30’s Brazilian rosewood Martin. An amazing flat top indeed. A rare opportunity to see let alone own a first year issue 000-28. How much to recreate this guitar today? The nearest example would be the now sold out D-28 Authentic which retailed for $40K. This is one of the orginal 129 000-28 herringbones ever made. This is truly an American Stradivarius. Comes with a non-original 40's milk chocolate hard shell case. This can be yours for $29,500
