12 String-Electric & Acoustic1988 Rickenbacker 370-12RM Roger McGuinn

Fireglo, serial number…get this…5. Of course you know Roger is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for being the voice of the Byrds…and yeah, they were kind of a big deal. Along with Chris Hillman, David Crosby, Gene Clark and Michael Clarke the Byrds had another famous voice…..A Rickenbacker 12 string.

Wikipedia tells us Roger practiced on his Rickenbacker 370-12 for eight hours a day. He loved it and was tired of playing wide neck acoustic neck 12 strings. So Rickenbacker creates an icon for this brand ambassador in 1988.

This is a super clean example without the compressor. These days you can find a compressor. You could order these with or without. It was a neat idea in 1988 but proved to be rather noisey onstage. Turns out wire wound coils are really mini radio receivers. Imagine if McGuinn had 50 choices for compressors like today. This has the COA so you get Roger McGuinns autograph as well. We have eight miles high of compressors to choose from.

This super clean fireglo is from the first batch out of the factory. It would be logical that the first one or two went to Roger. The next few might almost be considered prototypes. The COA states: finest solid hardwoods with a hand rubbed finish. Number 5 out of 1000 made. Comes with the original hard case, coa signed by Roger McGuinn. Super cool, so turn turn turn this towards your house for $5500
