Acoustic Flat Top1948 Gibson J-45

Great example of a nice post-war Gibson. Tapered headstock, Kluson tuners with replaced buttons, Brazilian board, original frets, mahogany back and sides, spruce top, and a beautiful burst. No cracks, breaks, or through separations. Just a bit of playing wear, most evident near the soundhole, and on the top of the instrument near the lower bout of the bass side. The finish retains a nice shine, and the warm aging of the lacquer gives a rich amber glow. Just enough light checking to add character. The bridge appears to be fine replacement, though is lifting slightly. Post-war Gibsons can often have variations from catalog specifications - waste not, want not. This guitar was spec'd to have a small rectangular bridge, sans belly. It may well be original.
Regardless, the saddle is in the right spot (not a given from the factory), so the guitar plays in tune. The sound is great - classic Gibson warmth with a bit of growl. Should record like a dream. A true value in a vintage classic with the original brown hard case. $8250
