Electric Solid Body1968 Gibson Early '68 Gibson Les Paul Gold Top converted to '57 specs

Early '68 Gibson Les Paul Gold Top converted to '57 specs

Faithfully, artfully, and expensively detailed to classic '50s specs including '50s parts and case. At almost 50 years old but pretending to be 60 years old it seems so much cooler than buying a "Collector's Choice" clone made yesterday for the same money. This not only looks historic but has the provenance of being a real '68 Les Paul. Here are some specs: Long neck tenon, square channel routs, small headstock, dish top, Brazilian rosewood fretboard. Also you'll notice the top binding at the cutaway has been altered and thinner-than-'68 binding substituted.

It sings. This guitar sounds old and broken-in from the first strum. It's so...complex. Listen to some live Allman Brothers to understand.

This '68 is refinished using old lacquer with a dark back and new inked-on serial number a la '57. '50s pots, knobs, and tone caps, '50s single-ring Klusons (price those!), looks like '50s inlays, and has been routed for humbuckers. Now has great PAF copies that look straight (we might have a set of originals if you need).

This guitar had a slight heel crack that is impossible to photograph.

Consider what Gibson is offering today with its Collector's Choice knockoffs. Then think what it would cost to have a Brazilian fretboard, '50s Klusons, relic'ed lacquer finish, and real vintage pots and knobs added. Now wrap a '50s brown Les Paul case around it. This guitar offers so much more. A real vintage bargain with tone to give you that big dumb smile.

Discount offered if we keep the case. $16000
